In Barishal, Bangladesh, most women miss out on getting an education and training, and struggle to make a living. It’s almost impossible for them to support their families, especially against the constant threat of deadly monsoons and flooding.

Life is tough, but they are tougher. They have the drive and determination to succeed.

They just need the right support, tools and training. Give before 7 April and your donation will be doubled by the UK government.

Cash grants, training or tools, like sewing machines, could allow incredible women around the world to reach their potential. When it comes to creating a sustainable future for everyone, where communities stand strong every day and in the face of a crisis, it starts with her.

But only when you stand with her.

Give before 7 April and the UK government will match your donation, doubling your impact. For every pound you give to our international work, the government will give another pound to build sustainable livelihoods and safer communities in Bangladesh.

I’m supporting my brother’s education. My mother benefits, my father benefits.

Help strong women build stronger communities

Providing tools and support for one woman can help her provide for her entire family. Giving one woman an education could spread learning and knowledge far and wide. Training one woman on hygiene issues can improve the health of many.

Give before 7 April and every pound you give will be matched by the UK government, up to £2 million, through UK Aid Match. If we can raise £2 million together, the UK government will double it to £4 million. That’s thousands of strong women – and, as a result, their communities – who will be even stronger.

All public donations made to our It Starts With Her appeal before 7 April 2020 will fund our overseas work and will be matched by the UK government up to £2 million. Matched funding from the UK government will be used to build sustainable livelihoods and safer communities in Bangladesh.
