Why we need your help
Across the world, millions of people have fled their homes in search of a safer place to live.
The Red Cross is the only organisation that helps people whoever and wherever they are, regardless of their reasons for leaving their home behind.
Your donation will help to save and improve the lives of people at every point in their journey to safety.
In countries across the world, you can help us to make a difference to people as they embark on a new life in an unfamiliar place.
Current situations we're supporting:
Bosnia and Herzegovina
This year many more people have travelled through Bosnia and Herzegovina to seek asylum in EU countries. The UN estimates that there are around 7,000 migrants in the country, with over half sleeping rough. Many have walked for weeks to get there, including women and children who arrive hungry and exhausted.
Red Cross teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina now help around 4,000 migrants in reception centres every day. This includes meals, hygiene items such as soap, clothes and first aid.
The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies launched an emergency appeal to provide assistance to migrants and host communities.
By supporting our Global Refugee Fund you could help us to provide refugees and migrants living in Bosnia with vital humanitarian aid, such as food, warm clothes and emotional support.

The past three months that I have spent here has been the worst time of my life. The situation in this camp is very bad. It is very cold. It’s also very dirty – we don’t have a toilet, we don’t have washrooms, we don’t have enough water to drink as well. I just want to live a safe life with my family, that’s it.
